Masaaki Oyamada is japanese stamp artist and graphic designer, based in Den Haag (The Netherlands)
I created a logo design based on the idea of an evolving brand that may be morphing permanently and it is recognizable; I defined an original shape for each letter and created a bunch of versions of each one.
Regarding style, I was looking for a similar feel and look to japanese typography, but with more simplicity and consistency as japanese culture seems to be to many of us. That is why finally after testing color I decided to stay just using black, because that was enhancing that perception. Empty spaces within the letters gave
the design a transparency feeling, as involving both, full and empty, in once.
Following Masaaki Oyamada logo design, I have created the whole typeface for Masaaki. I have created a wide font family, that contains Regular, Bold, Optional and Outline version; four different options in total. This was my very first typeface design, something I always wanted to do as graphic designer.
