This is a portrait of a lion. It follows all the rules and the process that I normally apply to portrait paintings, let's just say that this time the model is a bit peculiar!
Considering my fearless nature I decided to go with a few photos references, combining them for this final composition, instead of using a life model...
This painting was realized on August 10, 2020, 'World Lion Day' when I discovered that the specie is critically endangered in West Africa as a consequence of human behaviors.

When you paint with watercolors it's important to know how to preserve your work. Chose professional grade paint but most importantly use cotton paper so that your painting can endure the test of time.
Framing the final work is important to preserve it for centuries to come, make sure to create some space between the paper and the glass, usually I use a mat board. Use museum quality glass, acid free framing materials and don't expose to direct light. You are all set!

It's disheartening to see the negative impact of human behaviors on such magnificent creatures. Haunt The House
