João Pedro Silva’s work can be seen as a mirror which, as in Alice’s Wonderland among White Rabbits and Queens of Hearts, rises as a reflection of his own regard than simple portraits of those individuals or objects he photographs.
As Dorothy on her path to Oz, João Pedro Silva, on the brick road of pictures, has crossed over with ideas, contexts and emotions, gathering them in a quest for the raw nakedness of fantasy beyond the diaphanous film of reality.
Like Peter Pan, João Pedro Silva brings along with him the shadows uniting circumspection and laughter. Between the nostalgic look of finite worlds and the enchanted vision of unlimited horizons, the foreshadowed dichotomies invite the audience to stay and contemplate both the obvious and the unpredicted.
