Hi there!
My name is Barbara de Ru, I am a designer, screen printer and creative entrepreneur. After studying fashion design, I was a designer for over a decade for international well known brands. After a couple of years the dark side of the fashion industry started to weigh on me. Did you know that the fashion industry is the second most polluting industry in the worl?! It still has a lot of slavery and childlabor. When I saw the documentary the true cost I knew I couldn’t be part of it any longer. So I quit my job and started Bobbinhood where our main goal is to inspire people to make. We developed a kit and ink (in 22 colors!!!) to screen print eco friendly at home (or anywhere really!) without any chemicals or the hassle of a dark room. This is something we are very proud of because ‘classic’ screen printing uses a lot of chemicals! I love to teach people how to screen print and become a master! With Bobbinhood we taught over 200 workshops in the Netherlands and Belgium and wrote the ultimate easy screen printing book (both available as hardcover and e-book). Over the years I developed all these cool techniques that I love to share with my students and on instagram. I can't wait to show them to you in this course!

My goal in life is to inspire people to make things. I believe craftsmanship is a value we shouldn’t lose. I try to screen print every day. A screen print a day keeps the doctor away you know ;)
