My project in Digital Painting for Characters: Color and Light course - was a painting of a Bettong named Billy, an Australian nocturnal marsupial. It was a playful look at what a bettong may do to occupy his time at night when the rest of the animals are asleep. This is one of his pastimes, playing ball with a friend under a spotlight of moonlight peeking through the undergrowth.

Teacher PlusThere’s so much stuff that I like about this one. First of all great job. The light direction is very clear and the temperature is very clearly established. I think you did a really good job with values and light on the characters to make it consistent with your key light. I think your values can be pushed overall just a bit to add contrast to your characters and the scene as well. So if I was going to make a suggestion it would be to focus on practicing values and value structure in order to keep growing and mastering your craft.
I think you would benefit tremendously from painting from observation whether it be live or from photos just to keep brushing up on color and values.
Overall I think this is a very cool piece. Great work. Keep it up! 👏🏽👍🏽🎩

Plus@themaddhattr - I appreciate the compliments and thanks for the suggestions. Its always hard to be sure what or where to push it a bit further but your suggestion has made that clear to me. I'm working on another 2 scenes using Billy as it has captured my imagination, so I will now take these suggestions into consideration. Cheers.

Teacher PlusSounds great and I just want to be clear @wrig that you did an awesome job. Are you on Instagram? I would like to share this on my stories and would like to tag you if that’s ok?

Plus@themaddhattr I am happy for you to tag me and share my work. I haven't got an Instagram account set up for my work yet. I hope to do this later this year when I've got a few more suitably finished illustrations. Thanks again.
