IN the 2000's the Republic of Ireland has been constantly upgrading its road network, this has been done mainly for economic reasons, the never ending industries moving to Irealnd required top quality infrastructure to operate their business and to generate returns for teh poeple living in the new ROI. With the downturn of the world economy, irealnd and its productive sector has suffered more than any other country in the Euro Zone, and the companies that were waiting in line to set up their operations in Irealnd have now vanished.
The Scarred Landscape is a photojournalistic documentary concerning the lives of Irish farmers and their surrounding landscape affected by the changes faced by any country undergoing years of economic growth. This subject is especially relevant to Irealnd because it combines the new found Irish wealth with the tradition of farming and nurturing the land. After getting to know the landowners and the buisnesses and understanding the strength of the feelings raised by the land they owrk on, the motorway was not only a scar in the landscape but it was an indelible scar in the heart of them all.
