@inspiratemirando Excellent the course! I not only made the blanket the one in the photo but another one! and even a cushion with the same technique. Thanks a lot! Greetings from Argentina
@marianinaa Hi, how are you? I hope you are fine.
I have a question about the course and how you took it I have some questions for you ..
1. How did you like the course?
2. Would you recommend this course for people who have no idea how to knit?
3. Have you ever made blankets in this way or did you have any knowledge of how to do it?
4. Can you use other types of softer fabrics? .. Since many times wool itches on occasions.
@fernandomena Hello !!
1. I found the course very good, Javiera explains very well!
2 and 3. I recommend it because in my case I don't know how to knit or crochet, or with a needle, with nothing and I could make 2 blankets! and a cushion with the same technique (which I found on the internet), in IG NORDENTEJIDOS, it is a brand from Argentina that sells natural and already dyed wool and teaches you how to make pillows in a video. Search it!
4. She tells it in the video, this is the MERINO WOOL that is 100% natural and another called BIG COTTON, to make XXL fabrics (basically the BIG COTTON are pieces of cotton fabric filled with fleece) and they assemble a giant ball. They use that type of wool for babies, or knotted pillows. (they are knots), but it depends on the project you want to do. Because to make a blanket in BIG COTTON it has a lot of volume! and it's heavy!
As for the MERINO WOOL that is used in the course, I tell you that I am allergic to wool and I thought the same as you, that it was going to sting, but no! they are hypoallergenic! Make sure that in your country they sell 100% MERINO WOOL, buy the best quality and that they assure you that it is hypoallergenic.
Here in Argentina, luckily they sell wool in a Natural or dyed version, Javiera in all unit 1 tells you how to dye the wool, and you have to have some space to dye, wash and hang the dyed wool. Since I don't have that space, I chose to buy it already dyed. So if you get the dyed wool, go straight to unit 2 and start knitting!
Likewise, look at all the videos to give you ideas of what to do with your blanket ... if it is a foot of the bed, or for the armchair, etc.
If you do the course I will give you some tips!
- When she weaves, she calls the armed ties "ears", make sure throughout the weaving that the "Ears" are the same size, (she teaches you, but perhaps it is a detail that escapes you the first time when doing the blanket).
The "ears" are measured up to the elbow (the ties must reach the elbow) if you make sure that all the ties you make (ears) have the same size ... the blanket is super neat! (Javiera recommends you measure them ... but start measuring each ear ... you're going to get tired!)
If perhaps you forget at some point, to measure all the ears with the end of your arm ... (the top would be your elbow, she explains how to do it in the video), do not worry because it looks beautiful the same, only if you are retailer you are going to see some "failure", the first blanket I made did not take into account the measure that all the "ears" are the same, and the truth is that it is not noticeable. IF it is important not to skip points, she explains how ..
AH! Another tip is ... The day you decide to make the blanket, it takes me 1 hour to make a blanket that is 1.40 meters long by 70 cm wide (which is what she makes, and she also teaches you how to calculate the wool What is the most important )
I recommend that you make the blanket during the day, that once you start knitting, don't stop ... finish it, because you are going to forget which hand you made the stitches and you are going to waste time in perhaps disarming stitches.
IN AN HOUR, YOU HAVE READY THE BLANKET! better than doing it in 2 days.
I hope that in your country already dyed yarns are sold, you save a lot of time!
I hope you do the course and then show me how I look!
Successes! and animate they are soft, they do not sting, they do not give heat, and if you have pets they will love them !!
my dog loves it, because they are soft!
Greetings from Argentina, I hope my advice has served you!
Thank you very much for your comment! I am very happy that you liked the course and that you have encouraged yourself to do more things in addition to the final project!
