The first time I went to the Prado Museum I was delighted with the work Las Meninas from Velasquéz.
I spent some good minutes observing all the details and thinking about the history behind that scenario. Later, I got to know the work of Manolo Valdéz and, through the streets of Madrid, the Meninas Madrid Gallery initiative, which brought a more modern look to the work. The idea that each artist has his look on the same rereference and everything fits somehow didn't cross my mind. Thinking of these fragments, I created my version with simple, curved shapes, where all the pieces fit together, forming my girl: delicate, firm and unique.
Thanks Velasquéz and Manolo Valdéz, for their looks and for being inspiration.
