Well, I think it looked pretty good on you. I am fighting with the white gouache. I add water and liquid arabic gum but I can't quite get the point of the quantities and the fines appear and disappear. Have you tried liquid gouaché?

@javier_pinol I make 4 parts gouaches (tube) and 1 part Arabica gum and then I add the water little by little and that way they work even better than the inks that I have bought!

Thank you very much @lbpcarts619 . I tried white liquitex ink but it is not very opaque when dry. I'm going to test the proportions that you tell me, thank you very much 😉

Hello @javier_pinol ! Sorry for the delay in responding, I did not know how to get to this section. Thank you very much for your kind comment. I use gouache in tubes (the only one I found in my local art store); but a painter friend has told me that it is of poor quality and that caused the problem. He recommended using Winsor and Newton or Schmincke; but I will have to wait for the quarantine to end to go look for him in Mexico City. They are the disadvantages of the province. On the recommendation of Robert Harrison, who studied with Billy Lilly, I make my own gum arabic. You can read his advice here https://www.instagram.com/p/B5IsdYtDzAK/?igshid=o90jlw359ob9 It has https://www.instagram.com/p/B5IsdYtDzAK/?igshid=o90jlw359ob9 me a lot to adapt and use fountain pen inks with traditional nibs. Hope this helps you too. Greetings and my best wishes so that we all get through this quarantine well.

Oh! Again an apology @javier_pinol . I forgot to comment that the teacher Antonio Anzures recommended me the Dr. Ph. Martin's Bleedproof White acrylic ink, but it is not easy to get for those of us who do not live in the USA, at least where I live; but maybe in your city it is possible to find it. The teacher told me that it does not require gum arabic, just add water and that it is the most opaque on the market.

Thank you very much @eresvelasco , do not apologize please. Thanks for the advice, I will try to buy Dr. Martin's online and I will try the proportions of gouache that @lbpcarts619 has recommended. Let's see if all this happens soon and we make the best of it. A greeting ;)

Teacher PlusHello @eresvelasco and @javier_pinol
First of all, I apologize for not being able to help you with this issue.
Confinement and a baby have kept me busy.
I tell you my experience and opinion about what you have talked about.
- The proportions of the gouache should be to start with a quantity of gouache (I use the brand Talens). Schmincke is a very good brand and if I'm not mistaken they have a range made expressly for calligraphy but they seem very expensive to me. With the Talens brand I am very happy and the price is very good. The consistency has to be liquid, not like water but like milk (do you understand the difference?) And gum arabic is better to stay short than to abuse it.
- Fines are not appreciated. This may be due to consistency (too dense) or ink has dried on the nib tip. In that case, I recommend that you can clean the nib with a cotton cloth, if necessary moisten the cloth.
- Dr. Martin´s Bleedproof White is very good, very opaque and very easy to use. But its cost is high and difficult to find.
I hope I have been able to help you, take good care of you and I encourage you!
