In my project I have opted for a simple photo at the same time that it turns out. I also wanted to get away from the rule of thirds a bit by placing the main motif in the center and playing with the lines that the rear cupcakes generate. I have used an elinchrom d-lite 4 flash, with an 80 cm octagonal softbox, I think I remember it, a foad reflector only for the main cupcake, a 105mm macro lens and a nikon d3 camera. Camera Values, f-11, l-1/125, ISO 125; I always touch them up and clean them with photoshop, I don't know how other programs like lightroom or capture one work, despite having the latter downloaded, but I have my "gadgets" on another floor away from the computer. One thing that I do differently from you is, when you create the CURVES layer to modify the light of a certain area, I place that layer in BRIGHTNESS, and use the "little hand that an arrow appears clicking on different part of the area to modify, so it only affects the light and not the whole and its color. Sometimes I also use the layer levels in LUMINOSITY in the same way as the previous one, try it, it works great for me.
And finally to congratulate you once again, martí, for the courses you teach; I was only able to attend the one in Segovia and this one online, but I hope you will soon visit us in Madrid or its surroundings.
