The project consists of a series of paintings, titled Portraits, made on a cloth support and painted in acrylic.
In each square the hands or hand of an individual will be represented.
By choosing the hands and not the traditional portrait (description of the face and its expression) it is intended to minimize the obvious differences between people and to show their personality and characteristics in another way.
We are not only what we think but what we think and do.
The hands are the main organ for manipulating the environment. Through them we can not only represent the person but also the passage of time, the actions we have taken and the experiences that have left a mark on them.
The people portrayed will be of different ages, genders, jobs and lifestyles.
Thus, by having a series of images only of hands exposed, the observation of its subtleties will be reinforced. All will be in similar conditions without any type of reference that gives information about that person apart from what can be deduced, or supposed.
This is intended, on the one hand, to transcend the image of the hands as useful tools in daily life and, on the other hand, that the viewer asks questions that are parallel to the person portrayed.
The works will have a figurative finish without reaching hyperrealism, choosing positions that provide information about the person's state of mind.
The backgrounds of the figure will be neutral looking for shades of color that complement without removing visual intensity.
