.....
Two Fridas meet through the looking glass. The monochromatic Frida and the multicolored Frida.
The technique of collage on photography intervened with watercolors and watercolor pencils and graphite will allow the representation of the imaginary encounter.

Materiales
.....
Gold acrylic paint, watercolors, watercolor pencils and paper cutouts. Scissors, masking tape and glue.
I use the gold acrylic as a ground, not only with the aim of creating a basic atmosphere, but also because metallic acrylics on paper help to seal the surface and prepare it for subsequent layers of acrylics, watercolors or pencils, preserving the support.
After applying the gold, I place a sheet of paper on top to absorb moisture and a heavy book to prevent the paper from curling.

.....
Frida Kahlo, known for her art and her life, is above all a woman with a difficult, controversial and, in her view, very creative life story. Collage, meanwhile, is a technique that allows for diverse and unlimited ways of representing ideas, environments, situations and concepts.
The encounter between a monochromatic Frida and a multicolored Frida represents what this artist, this woman, possibly experienced every day: her daily life full of events that could have paralyzed and trapped her; as opposed to her decision to live and express herself through her art, exposing her fragility, her pain, her dreamlike, critical, creative, colorful world, woven with her cultural roots and her historical moment.
I choose to use the collage technique on an altered photo, to develop a simplified space, with few elements, easy to read.

Color y Collage
.....
After the first steps: I used a photo to create a monochromatic image of Frida; I applied color to the reflected image and I traced the flowers that emerge from the mirror. Finally, using graphite, I finished the work with some added shadows.

Trabajo terminado
.....
The finished work is an invitation to continue exploring mixed media on paper and collage as an infinite creative game.
