Since early on in the pandemic, and alongside my courses on Domestika, I hold a Sunday creative writing workshop on Zoom.
A group of 12 writers from different places in the world join in to write together. There's something magical about writing together, whether it's in the real or virtual world. I see that synchronicity happening here too on Domestika – people are often writing about similar themes, drawn to similar concerns, stories that sit side-by-side by writers from Quito, Quebec, and Copenhagen, echoing each other.
After hosting the Sunday workshops for a few years, I thought it was time to to create a book that reflects the magic that happens when people write together, even when on Zoom, all of us in different parts of the world, each with a different view from our windows, each with our own unique way of writing. Along with thirteen stories, the collection includes some images of those views and snippets of our handwriting as a way of welcoming the reader into the worlds we create.
