This course got me into working with concrete a few months ago, and since then I fell in love with it and started Sabay Cement, a social enterprise crafting beautiful home decor from concrete in Kampot, Cambodia.
This idea stemmed from seeing villagers struggle, especially during the rainy season and I wanted to help. So I was thinking that if I can find a way to make attractive items using accessible materials and find a market for them, the extra income could truly impact their lives. This is when I found this course and everything fell into place.
The first few experiments were a total disaster. My first pieces were quite ugly and broken, but over time they got better and better. I repurpose items like wine bottles, broken bricks and plastic waste into beautiful coasters, trays, lamps, clocks and more - all handcrafted, unique, and made with love in Kampot. The feedback from the community is amazing.
Looking forward to seeing how far I can take this and how many lives I can touch.
Thank you for this course!! It really helped me a lot and put me on this track.

@EN CONCRETO Thank you very much 🙏
I’ll continue creating and improving, and training more and more villagers in rural Cambodia to make concrete art objects, so that they can make a better living and getting out of debt 💫🚀

@Samuele Garritano I was experimenting a lot with different techniques and came up with this style. It’s the combination of both luck and technique. First of all, I was experimenting with some chemicals and their reaction to concrete, and some of these chemicals kind of ruined my silicon mold, that creates an interesting effect, and the technique is that I’m partially dripping in the first color and then removing it at certain places, and when that is half-cured, I pour in the other color (or in this case a mix of other colors). It was a lot of trial and error and experiments. I encourage you to try out new things, sometimes even things that seemingly do not make any sense, because sometimes magical results come out of them 😊 keep experimenting and have fun in the process 👍
