A photograph can also be a starting point When we take a photograph, we tend to think that the process ends when we press the shutter button or, at most, after a little digital editing. However, an image can also be the beginning of a new creation. All it takes is printing it out and viewing it as a blank canvas to discover that it still has much to say. Altered photography invites us to change that perspective. Painting over an image, cutting it out, embroidering it, or combining it with other materials allows us to break away from the idea of photography as an untouchable object and turn it into a space for experimentation. Every stroke adds a new layer of meaning and transforms an everyday scene into a unique work of art. You don’t need to be a professional photographer or a master painter to get started. Often, the simplest interventions produce the most surprising results. In this article, you’ll discover what altered photography is, what materials you’ll need, and what techniques you can try to develop your own visual language.
This was such a great course! I think I spent way too much time on certain parts, but I'll chalk that up to learning and experimenting. Thanks Rob!
