After dabbling in hand lettering for several years, it was wonderful to fill in some big knowledge gaps with this class from Nico Ng, who is known for his masterful sense of composition.
The lettering foundations were solid and the printable resources very helpful. Of all the lessons, I knew that layouts, composition, and final decorations would challenge me most. Nico's anecdotes and helpful hints were particularly applicable in these areas.
Many of the tools were new to me, from black paper to posca markers. There's a very tactile and sensory quality to analog hand lettering that was both intimidating and appealing. I was initially uncomfortable with the friction of the felt tip on the rough paper, but even after I relaxed into making marks, I realized I was holding my breath every time I made a "final line" haha. I need to work on that, too.
I commented in one of my homework assignments that I found myself getting into my head a few times, feeling paralyzed and unable to make decisions. Nico was great about replying with more helpful advice about sketching myself back into action.
While I see all the mistakes looking at my final piece, I know I learned SO MUCH from this class and I'm proud that I finished the class and the final project. I'm excited about putting into practice everything I learned. Not to mention I treated myself to Nico's full lettering and composition tool bundles, so all I have are possibilities!
Thank you Nico, and thank you Domestika for another fantastic class.

So nice to see your process for this lettering piece! Excellent work on this! I'm really happy to see such a beautiful project. I really love that you explored a bit more on the layout options and that you carefully built the layout guides and carefully drew the letters so cleanly like a pro! Keep it up! :) Can't wait to see more lettering compositions from you! :)
Thanks again for the great class, Nico! I hope everyone gets as much out of this as I did!
