In Unit 4 I chose to sketchnote my favourite TED-Talk: "Why city flags may be the worst-designed thing you've never noticed" by Roman Mars, Host of the 99% invisible podcast:

It wasn't quite as easy as I had thought (or hoped).
Especially listening, anticipating next topics, writing down, thinking of possible icons on the go - and all of that at the same time - really stressed me out.
But I really liked the way my sketchnote filled my sketchbook page.
What I didn't like though, were my accent colours.
And because I usually work with watercolours, I chose to do another Sketchnote, but this time without using the wobbly accent-colour-Stabilos, but watercolours instead.
The talk I chose was recommended by a friend. It is in German and has quite a tough topic (Aufarbeitung von sexualisierter Belästigung und Gewalt im Sport: Prof. Dr. Bettina Rulofs), but I tried to catch it in a sketchnote anyway:

After asking for permission to share this sketchnote here I thought I'd just upload it and finish the course, BUT...
... then I wrapped up my annual running balance sheet.
I thought I might as well make a sketchbook page about my 2022 running year and share it on Instagram.
Funny enough it turned out a kind of 'sketchnoty':

So, as you can see sketchnoting already found a way into my daily doing.
I really enjoyed taking this course on sketchnoting and I'm looking forward to where it will develop from here on...

😍 Gorgeous!
What is your sketchbook ?
Dear Marcel.
I love your sketchnotes. Your drawings and your line quality is beautiful and paired with the watercolour accents it's really delightful to look at.
As you are quite comfortable with drawing itself, the listening, anticipating and writing all at the same time is the next thing to practice and get better at. At first it's all a bit much, but over time it'll get easier and you can relax more.
Your handwriting is beautiful. The neatness of your structure and the ample whitespace you leave around your elements really make your notes very calm and easy to look at. I love the slight variations of containers you use to structure the content. The paper with the tear-off strips at the bottom is a very nice touch as well.
I also love that you switched to your favourite medium watercolour. Whichever tool works best for you is the one to use!
As you can see, nothing but praise from my side. I really dig your style. :D
I’d like to ask you as well, if it would be OK to share your sketchnote on my instagram / in my newsletter. If so, please do let me know and also let me know how you’d like to be credited (your name / instagram handle).
Bon soir @madame_efficience,
it's the sketchbook Mattias Adolfsson recommended in his Domestika course :)

Hi @evalotta !
Thank you for your overwhelming feedback!
I am determined to add more 'sketch' to my future 'notes'. Even if this means heavy sweating while keeping up with the speaker's pace...
But I really like how this fun method already invaded my sketchbook and my daily drawing practice.
As for sharing my sketchnotes - I'd be honoured, BUT:
The author of the source for my 'watercolour' sketchnote (Sexualisierte Gewalt im Sport) actually had a little correction she insisted on before publishing the sketchnote beyond this course forum.
I'll let you know when that is done and photographed (probably soon as I intended to Insta-post my course results next week anyway).
My Instagram handle is - surprise! - @mrcl_sketches :-)
