Hand painted swallows and roses with isomalt heart and cage spacer

Nothing says 'I love you' like a bunch of red roses! This cake was created for Valantine's day and I wanted to incorporate some pretty hand painted swallows alongside my usual flowers. The flat swallows are cut from floral paste and allowed to set before being attached to the cake. The heart on the central wire cage spacer is made from isomalt, giving it a lovely sheen. The delicate scroll is also cut from floral paste - allowing it to set hard and hold its shape!
