These are a selection of recent works that I've undertaken to try and improve my process and skillset working in oils. These have all been completed on either canvas boards or stretched canvas and all sized 40x30cms. Most of the subjects have used my own photographs for reference. Although for 'Travel in Style' and 'Girl with a Bicycle' I found a selection of free to use images for reference. With these I wanted to incorporate objects such as the bicycle and the car to try and push myself to incorporate metallic and more recognizable shapes etc. I wanted to see how I could interpret elements such as the spokes on the bicycle wheel to provide sufficient detail but also to incorporate them into my own style. This development all remains a work in progress but I'm continuing to develop and have fun at the same time. This is all a self taught process and I'm very much hoping that taking Domestika courses will help me to learn from artists whose work I admire to continue to develop my skills and learn new techniques.
