Tea Bag Dress

Over time, I have collected bins and bins of used tea bags, thanks to donations from family and friends. Upcycling tea bags by making dresses and kimonos from them has been a way to create larger scale projects — a challenge for a miniature artist like myself. Since I don't sew, I assemble the emptied and flattened tea bags and glue them together to create the "fabric" from which to design the outfit. Gluing them as opposed to actually sewing the tea bags allows the materials to be unharmed and free from being torn. In the past, I have added faux sewing stitches on the finished design using fine-point markers. Not only does it give the impression of being sewn, it adds dimension and completes the finished piece.

What a brilliant idea! I haven't seen anything so beautiful for a long time! 😍 At first I thought it was a creation of some famous fashion designer! Congratulations! 🤗
