Here is the final project of my Domestika course. It is based on a photo of Toshi, a pug who lives in Montreal (Canada). When I saw him on his Instagram I didn't hesitate to ask the father if I could use him as a model for my course. Thank you Charles!

His photo creates some challenges for us that were very interesting for me to face in this course, mainly related to how to emulate light and shadow in an embroidered portrait.

I have reduced the color palette quite a bit to simplify the process and make it more accessible for everyone when buying materials. I embroidered with one strand of cotton mouliné thread by DMC and the lilac background fabric is Bella Solids from Moda Fabrics.

Clearly, you don't need to make the same portrait, you can choose your pet, a friend's one, or simply work with a photo that inspires you.
