Hello, this is my project for 'Concept Art: Introduction to Set Design'. I have included my final project along with a few exercises I did for some of the units.
Hello, I see that you are quite good at concept art, I see other projects that are beautiful, perk it shows that you know more about the subject, doubt where you were before starting the course to where you finished, how much do you feel that you advanced or grew in technique really?
So I was studying animation the last three years, but I didn't really focus on concept art, color theory or anything similar so I feel like a beginner despite my studies. I would say that all the courses I have so far by Jean Fraisse are of great value. He really explains things in a way I find mind blowing and information really sticks to your head the way he teaches. It's not that you are going to become amazing right away, but you start to pay attention on some principles and think of your design and composition when you start drawing. I am currently doing another course by Jean Fraisse in color theory and I feel like a caveman discovering fire every time he explains things (I'm super excited cause I could never understand color and now things are starting to make sense). In general I think his lessons are worth it, it's more like you have someone to explain you some basic principles, tips and tricks and after that it's on you to start practising. You will also start to understand how other artists apply these principles on their work and notice details you were not aware before. Also, that is very important to mention, when you start a course, do all the individual exercises of each unit. They take time but they are set in a way to lead you from one step to another. After that it's all a matter of practice and having fun =)
I don't know if my comment helps you, but with these courses I started feeling I might have a chance of becoming a pro, while before I was just drawing randomly hoping to create something nice. I just can't describe how happy I am that I discovered his lessons! If you are thinking of purchasing this lesson, I would say go for it, take your time to practise and enjoy it as much as you can =)
