Boxoffice Pro: Redesigning a 100-year-old film industry publication

In publication since 1920, Boxoffice PRO is the go-to resource for the cinema
executives shaping the industry. But over the years, it had lost some of its original
lustre. Our modern redesign put it back in the spotlight and was recognised with
an IDA 2020 Gold Award.
Inspired by the magazine’s graphic history and classic covers from its 100-year
archive, the new design captures its rich heritage through a contemporary lens.
We reorganised the inner pages and introduced three new sections in order to
improve the pace and flow, and better serve the publication's distinct readership
segments.
Through a bolder use of photography and film stills we introduced a visual
approach to storytelling that’s more representative of the film industry, and allows
the text more space to breathe.
