My project for course: Illustrating and Writing a Children's Book-Heather Murray

I truly enjoyed this course and found Valentina's delivery and expertise quite valuable.
I typically work in collage and mixed media although studied illustration and design many years ago. Drawing with pencil was a new kind of challenge as I forgot about how easy it is to smudge one's work! That said I enjoyed the liberating qualities of working with pencil and colored pencils-and drawing form my imagination rather than relying on reference. I started with various animal and human characters and landed on a story from my own childhood-When I adopted and cared for a garter snake for one summer. I altered the story line to offer a bit more drama and will complete a few more finished illustrations . I will also explore my pig and rooster story in this style and see what evolves . I intend to continue drawing daily in my sketchbooks ..Thanks again Valentina for an incredible learning experience
