Series of illustrations commissioned by Stanford University Magazine for an online series of essays by Asian American Alumni about the struggles of being Asian American in the United States.
My approach was to find a subtle yet direct approach to complex issues while catching the sense of isolation that is common for Asian Americans. Quieter ideas are a great starting point for essays so the reader can be drawn into the author's story. Since essays are thought pieces, images which catch the story from a main character's point of view make a great fit.
The color pallet is consistent to connect the illustrations as part of a series.
