Living Room

This embroidered installation room titled "Living Room" is based on my living room in the apartment where I lived from 2010-2011. I recreated many of the objects that existed in that space, chairs, side tables and other nick nacks out of thread mimicking the space in my old home like a stage set or enlarged shoe-box diorama. All of the items are created flat at a 1 to 1 scale and are arranged in layers, hanging from the ceiling to mimic the space of a room. The objects act as a trace or record of a space that used to exist. Part shrine or monument, the thread drawings act as tribute to a room that once was.

I love creating embroideries on my sewing machinesof objects from my daily life. Shoes, backpacks and furniture have interesting lines, colour and form and I like to capture these elements in thread.
