So here is my final project for this course. During the course, while doing research, I saw a gorgeous watercolor painting of a giraffe done by the talented Louise De Masi. That's when I knew I wanted to do one for my final piece. And here we are.
After doing the last couple of paintings with some guidance along the way it was quite the challenge to do one all by myself. Overall I'm happy how it turned out.
All it is missing now is a suitable background. I uploaded the image to photoshop to play around with some ideas, but haven't found the right one yet.
I would be grateful for some ideas and inspirations :)
Thank you so much Sarah for this wonderful course! It was my first art course and I'm happy that I choose yours! I haven't painted this much in years.

Your giraffe is fabulous! Just the right amount of loose and detail.

Teacher PlusHi, thank you for sharing your beautiful painting and thoughts. I’m so glad that you have enjoyed the course. This is a really stunning piece. You have a super mix of tones and brushwork. Whatever you decide to do with the background, whether it be a partial wash or simply splashes then I would advise blue tones to add a cool counterbalance to the warm tones and to pick up on the blue shades in the eye.
