Malaysian Airlines flight 17 was a passenger flight from Amsterdam, The Netherlands, to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, shot down on 17 July 2014 while flying over eastern Ukraine.
All 283 passengers and 15 crew were killed.
Contacts with the flight were lost when it was 50 km from the Ukraine–Russia border, and wreckage of the aircraft fell over the region of Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine, 40 km from the border.
The shoot-down occurred during the War in Donbas in an area controlled by pro-Russian rebels.
This comprehensive infographic I was published on La Repubblica, breaking news section, two days after the disaster. It is a summary of all the known circumstances about the aftermath at the time, reported from various sources like Reuters, El Pais, and multiple press agencies.
