"Honey, we need to talk" reflects the role of art as a means of protest, prompting reflection.
However, as a surprise, the protagonists of this protest are not of human nature. In this piece, bees - being a community that plays an essential role in our ecosystem and even for our economy - act as an icon to represent our collective responsibility and the urgent need to collaborate in order to forge a more conscious future. Honeybees themselves, as many people might have already heard, are not doing very well. The loss of their colonies is undoubtedly worrying and, sadly, it has been the trend for the last decade to lose about 30% each year. Bees as a symbol for a community, a reference that is suffering but continues to fight, now in a humanized way so that we can hear them vibrate. The play stages an artivist performance through nostalgia and parody.
