This was a really fun project. I'm not sure if it's possible to read 'Kyoto' so I may try to simplify the design by removing some elements.
I visited Kyoto 15 years ago and there was so much to be inspired by, including the golden temple, Kinkaku-ji and the bamlboo forest. I also found a photo of a geisha wearing a kimono with a striped design and flowers which inspired some of the illustrations.
In the research I found out about an abstract artist from Kyoto, called Kaoru Shibuta. I based some elements on his artworks.

Teacher PlusHi Jonathan,
I love it! Although you used modular shapes as a base you managed to give it a very distinctive look - I think if you could simplify a better readability by simplifying (have you tried shortening a bit the leg of the t?) – but maybe you also loose a bit of this colourful, vibrant and dense look (which I like very much) :-)

@birgitpalma Hi Birgit, thanks for your feedback! I'll try making some changes to make it a little more readable. Making more space between between the leg and arm of the t should help.
It was such a fun project and I'll definitely try more cities.

This is great! I love the elements and the way you connected everything with those lines like the ones in the abstract art works.
