The man in Essaouira fitted neatly in the half dome of the gate (focus), there was light & shadow, a limited color palette and interesting buildings (3 gates a.o).
I liked the sketch with first watercolor, then pen & ink better than the three stages method - it became a bit stiff.

Teacher PlusVery attractive reference, full of interesting elements ideal for painting. The light is very good, I think the perspective can improve but for me it is nothing serious. Greetings

What a fascinating difference between the two paintings! The first one feels so energetic and chaotic - I didn’t know what it was but I was drawn to click in it out of all the paintings I’ve been scrolling through. The second one is a lot clearer but not as energetically appealing. I wonder about combining the two somehow? That what I want to accomplish in my paintings!
