The Black-footed Plover is a small fast bird that adores the dunes of the Cádiz coastline and travels thousands of kilometers to nest in them.
To illustrate the label of a new organic white wine from Bodegas Barbadillo, I investigated its shape and size, the way it flies and walks, its colors, and how it relates to its surroundings.
At first glance it does not look like a strong bird, it is delicate. When I drew it, it reminded me of the high tones of a song, without which the melody has no meaning. It took me to pink and yellow clouds, to the marsh. This is how an image emerged that contains dunes, salt and light.
A label is not only a label, it is an expository format. Perhaps we spend more time looking at this type of work than in an exhibition hall. And this is also part of the sensory experience of enjoying a wine. With Patinegro we seek to make visible the commitment of all for the preservation of the Environment, because the Black-footed Plover is seriously threatened by human interference.
Some of the photos, bottle, nest, ringed Black-footed Plover are from Montse Mármol. Thank you Montse, Carmen, Carina, Laura for counting on me in this project. Thanks Rubén for helping me in the process.

Absolutely love the project. I am going to share it with all my birder friends, who I am sure are also going to explode with emotion. In NYC we have a population of Piping Plovers that comes here every spring to nest on the beaches. The beaches are shared with humans, which leads to a massive decline in their numbers. They are the sweetest, cutest busiest birds, and I love it that you raise awareness to these little fellas.

Teacher Plus@eran_kalmanson thank you very much !!! Yes! On the beaches of Cádiz they have protected areas to prevent humans and dogs from stepping on the nesting area. They are very delicate birds, but also subtle and cheerful. It was exciting to be able to see one up close and the banding process.
