Lulú, the hugger

Hi all.
I did this project based on the idea of a companion doll. I called them "the huggers" and this is my second version.
Because I just started to sew with the sewing machine, I decided to combine hand-sewing and machine sewing. The main reason was to get a proper product. I went with straight shapes, because I still don't know how to sew curves, so in order to avoid mistake, i made my design as a straight body-shape.
The huggers have this button on top of their hands, to propitiate fine motor skills. I am passionated about kids interaction with toys and games, and I found this was a nice touch.
Apart from this, I would like to mention that I support the idea of growing kind using kind material with the environment. I like to rescue the "old idea" of what a toy is, and let the imagination fly – Actually the buttons, I would like to replace the for wooden buttons, but I need to get them!
Meanwhile, with this project I discover a whole new me. Thank Maria for been there here and on instagram. I really enjoyed the interaction with you. Wishing all the best to all of you!

Teacher Plusloanah, I'm glad you enjoyed this course and connected with it on such a level.
Your work (this project, your process and everything I've seen here and on instagram) is really fun and beautiful, you have a nice line and a great sense for colour. I especially admire how you come up with ideas for objects that are more than toys or that have something extra. In this case there's the hands around the neck, in another you have bookmarks etc.
I think you should follow this intuition you have and take it as far as you can. I'm sure that I'm gonna continue seeing great things from you! I wish you good luck and all the best!

@miculhaos Thanks so much! You've been such an inspiration for me in many ways – Not only the toys. By reading your story I started appreciate my background, as I've done so many different things. It's been a long journey of 15 years working, but not working for my own objectives. This course was the main door to open and respect my own ideas, and take them to the next level. Thanks Maria, for been there and answer my questions. I am sure we will keep talking <3 All the best for Micul Haos! and for you of course!

@soniatorrezan The hair is a tufting effect made with a punch needle on linen. There are many videos on youtube.
