This project focuses on the concepts of prohibitions and barriers, thinking of it as a body of work that expresses an acknowledgement of a new kind of urban landscape.
I paint scenes and landscapes created from a group of objects found together in an unusual manner. I play with their forms and negative space, through a process of subtraction. Through photography, I collect moments and objects which come from a curiosity of knowing something new. I’m interested in capturing objects found in strange positions, whose purpose in space is changed and create a new meaning in the physical world. I, therefore, add commun objects in the navigation and appreciation of spaces.
I use objects as common denominators of our urban environment and I especially focus on the subject of barriers and all it implies. The interior and the exterior, the skin which protects us from outside aggressions. What is and what isn’t socially accepted. What is and what isn’t morally accepted. What is ethically accepted and what isn’t. The thin line between sanity and the lack of it.
