    James Lewis is a multidisciplinary British artist, specializing in calligraphy and lettering, with clients such as Pepsi, Amazon, Montblanc, the BBC and more. He's well-known on both Instagram and TikTok with a combined following on both apps of over 1.5 million.

    He began his career as a digital logotype & lettering designer but slowly transitioned from designer to artist by focusing on calligraphy and painting. His passion for letters, social media understanding, and a handcrafted approach have formed the basis of his career.

    James has exhibited his art and taught lettering workshops all around the world.

    This course is best suited for intermediate artists who already have basic lettering or painting experience and want to refine their brushwork and logo painting techniques.

    You'll need brushes (including chiseled edge and small detail brushes), brush pens, high flow acrylic paint, matte medium, tracing paper, carbon transfer paper, canvas, masking tape, and an easel.

    You’ll learn consistent brush lettering techniques, pressure control, brush and pen handling, paint mixing for lettering, constructing and refining letterforms, and how to transfer and paint custom logos on canvas.

    Some familiarity with basic calligraphy or lettering is recommended, but you don’t need to be an expert. The course covers foundational brushwork and builds up to more advanced logo techniques.

    Brush lettering uses flexible brushes or brush pens to create thick and thin strokes by adjusting pressure and angle, allowing for expressive, calligraphic letterforms not possible with regular pens or markers.
