Redefining and valuing handmade work is what textile artist María does with her artistic and social project, María la Biyux, where she creates textile accessories that are full of color, bringing life and power to the pieces and elevating them to the category of jewelry.

In this course, learn to weave your own textile accessories and choose an appropriate color palette based on the piece and the person for whom it is intended. Learn how to warp the fabrics, tighten them, and weave them together to gradually transform them into unique pieces.

## Who is this online course for?

This course is for anyone who wants to make a unique textile piece, focus their attention on a craft project, and work on their connection with themselves.

## What is this course's project?

Create a unique, handwoven textile necklace with 12 strands. Work the tension of the fabric with three different degrees of complexity, and finish up by looking at a possible variation and experimenting with everything you have learned.

## Requirements and materials

No prior knowledge is required, but you do need some materials such as colored elastic lycra fabrics and metallic latex fabrics, chains with gold or silver links, a needle and thread in the colors of the fabrics, a round pair of pliers and a pair of flat pliers (both used in jewelry), scissors, and a tape measure.

## Content

### Introduction

Hello!
I welcome you to my course! I am very happy to share this experience with you.
In this unit I will tell you who I am, how I came to create María La Biyux and I will share the main references and influences that inspire me when creating.

### Presentation of materials and color

Before we start knitting, I will show you the materials and give you some tips to choose the color palettes for your textile accessories.

### Let's do it

In this unit we get down to work, we will begin to prepare the material and learn to weave our first textile accessory.

### Increasing the difficulty with 2 colors

Now we will put into practice what we learned in the previous unit and weave a necklace of 2 colors. Exercising is the key to improving our tissue, so that it becomes more and more even and controlled, but it is also good to increase the difficulty and try with less colors, so we open more design possibilities.

### Monochrome necklace

The challenge is bigger now, we are going to knit with only one color, so we will no longer have as a guide the difference of tones of our warps. But the result will be really beautiful.
