### Introduction

Hi, I'm Ivo Müller, and I'm an actor. I also work as a producer, writer and teacher. Thank you for joining me in this course, and welcome! 

In this first unit, you will learn about me and my experience, how I went to college to study Law, but decided to pursue acting when it was clear that was my passion! I’ll also share what inspires my work so that it can inspire yours!

### Acting and Communication

In this unit, you'll learn why acting training tools can be important for everyday communication and how acting and communication have had an alliance, at least since Ancient Greece. Together, we will go through some historical facts and names that have influenced public speaking, theater, movies, and TV as we know it today.

### Time to Act

In this unit, you'll familiarize yourself with tools that can help you develop your communication skills. I'm going to share with you what I've learned and practiced in acting training, resources I use and believe are very helpful to prepare for auditions, classes, and speeches. I'm sure that if you put in some effort and practice, they can help you too!

### Recording Yourself: Shooting a Self-Tape

We are now heading to complete the course project: the self-tape. As I mentioned in the beginning, a self-tape is an exercise where you record yourself. You will practice your craft and watch it, then share it on the forum for feedback. It is also how actors send auditions to casting directors. Let's see how we do it!
