## Content

### Introduction

Hello! I welcome you to this Domestika course. I am Maria, I am very happy that you have decided to join me in this adventure.

In this first unit, you will get to know who I am. I am going to share about my work as an artist and engraver. I will also tell you about the influences present in my work, what inspires me to create, and I will share with you some of my stamp projects that I hope will inspire you to create your own.

### Preparation: technique and materials

This first stage will be one of preparation. I will teach you the materials that we will need and the fundamentals of the carving technique. Finally, I will talk to you about typography and I will give you recommendations for its use on stamps. Let us begin!

### Inspiration and project design

Let's move on to the conception stage. In this unit, I will help you find your inspiration and guide you to build the idea for your design.

First, I will share the tools that help me create a design and define its concept. I will explain what an ex libris is and I will share guidelines to build yours.

Then, we will go on to create the drawing that will be the basis of your design. To do this, I will share tips that will help you make your own without being an expert cartoonist. I will also tell you about the types of composition that you can use and, finally, I will explain in more detail the circular composition and how to curve a text in a simple way.

### Making of the seal

The funniest part has arrived! It's time to carve the project.

I'll start by showing you how to transfer your design onto the rubber, and then it's time to carve out the stamp. I will share more carving tips and we will do printing tests, where I will tell you a little more about the inks and how to achieve the perfect inking and printing.

In addition, I will recommend my favorite papers to stamp stamps and to give the final touch to the stamp by mounting it on the block of wood. Finally, all that remains is to stamp the book to see the final result.

### Seal care and recommendations

The seal is already finished, so in this unit I will talk about the cleaning and storage care that you must take into account so that you can keep it in perfect condition for a long time. Likewise, I will share the care of your tools.

I will finish by telling you about the other uses that you can give to your project and the stamps that you make with the knowledge learned in the course.
