### Introduction

Welcome aboard! My name is Renata Mayumi Fukuda and I'm a Japanese-Brazilian paper jeweler. Thank you so much for joining me in this Domestika course.

In this unit, I would like to share with you a brief journey of my personal and artistic path. I will talk about my background and how I became an origami jewelry designer.

### Origami: Tools and Materials

In this unit, I will introduce you to the art of origami and teach you how to choose the right tools and materials for your paper jewelry. 

Then, we will enter the planning stage of the course project: you will learn how to search for inspiration, collect reference images, and make a mood board which will help you during your creative process.

### Creating an Origami Jewelry Set

Let's get started! First, I will show you how to create our own pattern, applying different materials on paper. Next, you will finally experiment with paper folding, learn how to read a diagram, and create models of 3, 6, 12 and 14 sonobe units. 

After choosing the design for your project, I will show you how to treat the paper to be water-resistant and I will also teach you the best way to assemble your jewelry.

### Packaging and Social Media

Origami jewelry needs a nice and safe environment to be transported and protected from environmental influences. So, let's invest some time in the packaging and get a little taste of how to fold origami boxes to present your work more professionally!

And last but not least, I want to show you some simple and powerful ways to photograph and share your creations on social media.
