Nowadays a designer can spend hours searching for visual references or inspiration on the internet to conceptualize a project, something that, according to Adolfo Navarro - product designer and course teacher [Introduction to leather design](https://www.domestika.org/es/courses/399-introduccion-al-diseno-en-cuero) - can be counterproductive to reach a solid concept and achieve a high quality design.

In search of new processes to approach projects in a structured way, Adolfo created a work methodology called Configurative Design, and in this course you will learn its basic principles, to achieve product designs that fulfill several purposes, applying concepts of interaction, deconstruction and configuration in your creative process.

## Who is this online course for?

Product designers, architects and creatives in general that look for new ways to solve and tackle projects.

## What is this course's project?

The course is 100% theoretical but Adolfo invites you to put into practice what you have learned, developing the design of an object that can be configured in a simple way.

## Content

### Introduction

Hello! Thank you for choosing this course. During the following units and lessons I will show you what design is from my perspective, exploring why it can become so exciting, seen from a configuration approach applied to projects that we face every day. Remember that the whole course is focused on understanding the configuration from the objects due to my practice in product design, but the basic principles can be applied to what works best for you. We will analyze tools, not a rigid method.

In this first unit, we will get to know each other a little better. I'll show you what I do, why I do it and why. I will talk a little about the characters, situations and objects that inspire me to a great extent, and more importantly, those that do not.

### Applying Configuration - Configurative Factors

During this unit we will know, as a general glossary, some terms that we will be facing throughout the course, becoming familiar with the configuration, the objects and considering everything that implies.

### Configurative Limitations - Generating ideas from simple approaches

How to generate configuration from the same elements that we have in any project? In this Unit we will understand how each system is constituted, each object, each decision; to deconstruct it and, based on this understanding, analyze what can be achieved with these elements.

### Configurable Objects: Achieving multiutility.

Another way to generate configurtative results is to generate multi-usefulness. By the way, what is the difference between functional and useful?
