## What is this course's project?

Develop two or three mock-ups for a book cover using InDesign and Adobe Creative Suite.

## Requirements and materials

A working knowledge of graphic design and Adobe Creative Suite is recommended. 

As for materials, you ideally need a camera, a scanner, a computer with graphic-design software, and art supplies. However, you can also get creative and design your book cover with just a pencil, some paper, and a smartphone.

### The Book Design Process

Here, you will familiarize yourself with the book design process and how to begin thinking like a book designer. I will also teach you my process to start thinking about the kind of book I want to design a cover for. Finally, I will show you which tools and creative techniques I might want to employ.

### Creating Your Book Cover Design

During this unit, you will see how I develop two to three design directions by applying the design process steps you have learned about in the previous unit.

### Finishing Touches for Your Cover

Finally, I will talk about different ways in which you can expand the design beyond just the cover.
