Finding your own illustration style can be a long but exciting journey, and illustrator, painter, and muralist Attila Szamosi (Vidam) has a wealth of firsthand experience in the matter. It took him years of trial and error to find a style he was comfortable with that also gave his work an unmistakable identity. He currently designs posters and flyers as well as murals for clients like Nike, Arte, and Spotify.

In this online course, he teaches you how to identify and develop your own form of artistic expression. Discover his personal method for finding a style along with how to create a distinctive piece for an illustrated poster of anthropomorphic animals using Illustrator and Photoshop. ## Content

### Introduction

Welcome to my Domestika course. I'm glad you're here! My name is Vidam. It's Hungarian and means something like cheerful or happy - and that's exactly what I try to convey in my illustrations. So I'm an illustrator, but also a muralist and an artist.

In this unit I would like to give you an overview of my work and show you my role models and inspirations.

### Research and Style Finding

This unit is about the preparation of the course project and also about how to find your own style - because it is important to be recognized as an artist.

I'm going to show you how to look for images and inspiration to create your very own fun characters. I will also show you with an example how an elephant can be drawn in different styles. These tips should help you with your style development.

### The Animals in the Urban Forest

Using the sketch of a wild boar mama as an example, I will first show you how the wild world of animals can be transferred to the anthropomorphic world of city dwellers. For this one tries to transfer animal behavior into human behavior.

When the sketches of all the individual animals are complete, they are put together like a collage. And then we continue with the vectorization! I'm going to show you how to draw the sketches into vectors using Illustrator to finish them off.

### Elaboration of Your Illustration

This unit is about developing the illustration further. I'll show you how I further vectorize my illustration, how I post-process it in Photoshop and create analogue textures.

### Further Options for Your Poster with Vector Illustration

Finally, I will explain to you briefly how you can quickly and easily order your self-designed poster printed on paper online. I'll also give you a few tips for packing and shipping it yourself.
