Discover how to make your work the best presentation letter
It is very important to know how to draw, but the key to entering the creative market is to have a good portfolio. It is the cover letter that should show the strengths of an illustrator in front of the client and therefore it must be perfect; but its design needs a precise exercise of conciseness, style and coherence.
Sandra López and Ángel Domingo form Pencil -the first illustrators agency created in Spain that represents artists recognized by the most prestigious awards with works published in Europe, America and Asia- and in this course they will teach you how to get the best out of you and of your work to put together an effective and differentiating folder.

About this course
You will start knowing what Pencil is and how the idea of creating the first agency of illustrators in Spain came about. Then, Sandra and Angel will give you a short introduction in which they will tell you what a portfolio is and what are the main do's and don'ts when it comes to making it memorable.
Afterwards, you will have to do research work. You should ask yourself in what kind of sectors an illustrator can work and how you want to focus your portfolio according to what suits your style and your aptitudes.
You will take a good walk through your own work, doing a selection task to choose the projects that can be included in your portfolio and those that will be left out.
Angel and Sandra will give you some tips to develop an effective portfolio, warning you about common mistakes and addressing aspects that usually generate doubts, such as the support in which you must present it.
Throughout the course, different illustrators and art directors will give their valuable testimony, which will help you to understand the importance of a good portfolio from different points of view.

What is this course's project?
You will design your professional portfolio based on your own illustrations.
Who is it for?
Illustrators who are starting in the labor market or professionals who want to give a return to their portfolio and explore new professional sectors.
What you need
You must have basic knowledge of image and design treatment programs. With regard to materials, you will need pencil and paper to sketch, a computer and, of course, the images that will be part of your portfolio. If you do not have enough projects do not worry, Sandra and Angel will give you the necessary guidelines to detect the shortcomings and complete your work catalog.

Founded in the year 2000, Pencil is the first agency of illustrators created in Spain. They represent artists from different countries, recognized by the most prestigious international awards and contests in the sector, with works published in publishers, media and agencies in Europe, America and Asia. Its portfolio collects very diverse styles to adapt to the needs of all types of clients. Far from being guided by fashions, the only requirement is that they get excited.
They have always promoted and organized international cultural projects such as the International Illustration Forum of the IDF Guadalajara-Mexico (FILustra); Ilumina, program to promote reading, LuchaLibro Valladolid, literary improvisation contest on the quadrilateral ... And also collaborate with the About Program, the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development (Aecid) and the International Foundation and for Ibero-America of Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP), giving workshops in cultural centers of Spain and institutions of Chile, Honduras, Mali, Mexico, Nicaragua, Nicaragua or Peru.

ProThe course is good but I am learning this from the english subtitle and unfortunately the the english translation is horrible! I suspect Domestika uses Google translate instead of hiring a proper translator, which is ironic because this course advised not to trust Google translate. Other than that, this is a very practical and useful class both for professional and anyone starting out. Thank you!

Totalmente recomendable!
