Begin by getting to know Manuel. Hear his story about how he began in fashion photography and art direction and how he started his own studio, Studio Ridocci. He also shares the influences that have inspired and shaped his work.

Get introduced to the role of an art director in fashion. Manuel elaborates on the many parts they play and the skills they need, which include their communicative abilities, attitude, experience, and organization. Learn all about fashion trend analysis and how to implement them in your proposals for clients.

Whether your proposal is for a campaign or an editorial, the first step is defining your target audience. Manuel shows you how to research trends both in a historical and sociocultural context. Build a narrative around your audience and define it by picking the right keywords. Translate your ideas into a mood board of references that inspire you.

Plan your photo shoot by researching the location and establishing the look and feel of your set design. The photography style is the thread that holds all the elements together since the lighting should paint the story you want to tell. The next step is crafting your dream team including a photographer, models and hair and makeup artists that can help turn your ideas into reality.

Discover how to have an effective post-production session after a photo shoot. Manuel goes through image editing and how to pick the best shots to create a visually appealing presentation. To wrap up, get a final recap of the tools you need as an art director to create striking proposals that capture your clients’ attention.
