Gone are the days when women in comics were portrayed only as sidekicks or love interests. Nowadays, a new breed of female characters and superheroes are taking the comic book world by storm with powerful storytelling and stunning visuals.

In this course, Marcio Takara—comic book artist with experience drawing comics for Marvel and DC—will teach you how to draw female characters from scratch. Starting from action lines and composition, this course will show you how to add volume, movement, balance, and expression to your creations.

## Content

### Introduction

Hey. Welcome to this course.

Here, I will show you how I come up with a female character that could be used on a comic-book, explaining the basic layout structure of the figure and composition. And finishing with inks and grey tones.

At the end of the course you’ll be able to understand how I think when creating a female figure piece of art.

### Preparation, Research and Pencil Lines

In this unit I will introduce the materials for this part of the course, talk about the importance of picking references and how to compose our figure.

### Hair, Faces and Hands

I want to show you, still using a pencil, how important it is to define concrete parts of the body for expression and character.

### Ink!

In this unit I will show you my inking process, from the lines to the greytones.
