Domestika Diary Reveals the Beauty of Botanical Illustration by Lucila Domínguez

Discover the rich creative universe of the illustrator who invited us into her studio in Buenos Aires, Argentina
Illustrator Lucila Domínguez (@lucilismo) finds her muse in plants and flowers. She uses them to create small and large-scale acrylic paintings of botanical motifs.
As well as observing Argentina's astounding variety of flowers and leaves, she also investigates specimens from all over the world in her quest for inspiration.
In this Domestika Diary, Lucila invites us into her Buenos Aires studio and reveals her creative process. Discover her world in the video.
Like almost everyone else in Argentina, Lucila starts her day with a good drink of mate. Then she locks herself away in the studio to research and create.
One of her favorite working methods is to project the original botanical image onto canvas. But there are times when she transfers her reference photo onto the frame by drawing a grid and copying it across.
She's an expert in large-scale murals and has worked on projects in various countries. "I take these opportunities to discover different green places, it's a great escape and time to breathe," she explains.
