Domestika wanted to discover more about James Chapman's (@jameschapman) inspirations, which is why we set him this Draw Yourself challenge.

Born into a creative family, Chapman was a curious child, who loved drawing famous characters like Sonic the legendary hedgehog: Sega videogames mascot. As a teenager, James saw cultural phenomena, including films and TV shows, as a form of inspiration and as a way of learning to draw.
On finishing his PhD in Physics in 2015, James left scientific laboratories behind and set out to become a professional artist. He has worked as a 2D illustrator and designer ever since, for animation studios including Disney, Nickelodeon and Universal.
