Popoke artists Natália and Eduardo share their creative routine in Minas Gerais, one of the largest states in Brazil

Popokes are the characters of a playful universe made by artists Natália and Eduardo. These whimsical beings are sculpted out of upcycled hardwoods that provide a range of textures, colors and shades. And they were born out of this couple’s love of art and craftsmanship.

The world of the Popokes isn’t the only fascinating feature of their work. This pair decided to live and work in Gonçalves, located deep in the heart of Minas Gerais, in Brazil. It’s here that the artists find inspiration in the shapes and colors of nature.

Out of this world

Popokes are inspired by the fantastic universes of geometry, mythology, ancient civilizations and science fiction. The artists believe they are ‘immersed in fantasy to recreate reality’.
