Basic Materials to Start in Woodworking

Patricio shares the materials you will need to create your first carpentry projects with his expert guidance: a three-legged stool.
Materials
- Wood (in Patricio’s project, you will use pine plywood, but you can use a different type of plywood), 18 mm thick for the seat and the legs.
- Leftover cuts or cut ends from your sheet. Ask for the extra bits when they cut your wood.
- MDF to make stencils.
Tools
- Pencils (2mm for drawing lines and another for marking)
- Carpenter’s framing square
- Metal ruler
- Combination or carpenter’s try square
- Try square
- Hammer
- Cutter
- Double-sided contact tape
- Wood glue
- Sandpaper
- One-inch nails
- Screws (from 1 to 1/4)
- 10 mm wooden block
- Mask (preferably with breathing valve)
- Headset (to protect ears)
- Goggles (to protect eyes)
- Gloves (painting ones, not for electrical tools)
- Workbench
Electrical tools and extras
- Milling tool (or hand milling machine)
- Drill
- Jigsaw
- 10 mm drill bit
- 10 mm wood drill bit
- Half-inch end mill
- ¼ inch molding
- Squarehead bit
- Fine jigsaw blade
