Free Download: How to draw folds in clothing
Don't make your characters wear cardboard boxes unless it makes sense with their personalities... Consequently don't turn all your characters into cardboard wearing weirdos just because you don't know how to draw proper fabric clothing...!
You might be working on a rebuttal to counter my previous statements... Fold your thought and let's get started!
Fabric Dynamics
Understand the dynamics of your fabric. Consider how it might respond to tension and the form it drapes over.
Ask yourself if the material hangs naturally... You got to talk more with yourselves period! You'll become better illustrators... or just plain crazy. It's one or the other.
A Good Sketch Goes a Long Way
Begin by sketching a basic representation of your clothing, then focus on rounding its contours to create the illusion of tubular sleeves.
If you introduce creases at the points where two elements meet it's going to look so good and so realistic you'll begin to only draw clothes and forget how to draw characters inside them... We have a tutorial for that don't worry! Not for memory loss, I don't think I made myself clear...
Free Download
I wouldn't wish to spoil all the information that this free download encompasses. So I'll leave you to it with the help of a PDF and a making of video that will surely come in handy...
